e107 Themes launched

After several months of discussion and life getting in the way e107 themes is finally launched!

The site intends on being the greatest resource for e107 themes. Featuring excellent tools for both theme hunters & developers.

The site is very much a sister site to e107 plugins using the same download management system.

The new site is now launched & available so you can check it out here.
While there aren't any themes there yet (unless someone has uploaded one by now!) please continue checking back as we hope they will be getting added on a regular basis.

Note: The site shares the same user database as e107.org so you do NOT need to sign up for a new account if you already have one for e107.org.

e107forge.org Officially opens!

e107forge.org has been put in place to provide a single, easy-to-access location for e107 developers, plugin writers and theme coders to store and keep track of their projects, code and releases while working in conjunction with plugins.e107.org.

So what's the difference between plugins.e107.org and e107forge.org?
The difference is the audience, while plugins.e107.org is aimed entirely at the end user who wants to be able to find a plugin easily and isn't necessarily interested in the code behind the plugin. On the flipside, e107forge.org is all about the code and the developers, SVN and CVS access is available while providing a fully featured, easy-to-manage project page and allowing coders to collaborate together to work on a plugin. Rather than one developer writing a plugin and then another user making code changes and re-submitting the plugin, we can have collaborative developers drawn together by a particular plugin.

If you're a developer wanting to get your code or project online but need some help along the way e107forge.org is here to help. If you're a theme developer who's keen to have a versioning system take care of the headaches of making minute changes here and there, e107forge.org is for you. We can provide SVN and CVS versioning control as well as bug trackers / issues / feature requests etc. It really is up to you when it comes to which features you want to use.

e107hacks.org re-opens

Following the closure of e107hacks on December 31st, the site has been taken over by another e107 user and brought back to life for the benefit of everyone who wants to use the hacks already here, or discuss ways to hack the e107 core for everyone's benefit.

Taking over from Oz, who had done a fantastic job of building up a range of hacks from various different authors across the e107 community, my name is Simon Paul and I own and manage NSNO.co.uk which is perhaps the most widely used e107 site on the net.

Through running NSNO I have developed a taste for hacking the core of e107 to make the site do what I want it to do, as well as with help from experienced coders from the e107 community, and I feel I can bring a great deal to the community via this site.

I intend to release a number of the hacks I have used myself over time. Many of these hacks have taken inspiration from other e107 users, and some of the hacks I release may even be a direct quote from those users, brought together in one place for ease of use. Wherever possible I will always give credit to those who have inspired - or that I have just copied from - but if I miss you out, please register and let me know!

All the best, and happy hacking! click to open link in new window

New year ... new e107 version

The e107 team is proud to present the latest release of e107, version 0.7.11.

This will probably be the last release from the 0.7 branch. We understand that many of you have been mentioning that the releases have been bugfix only releases and really nothing new. Yet again, that is the case with this newest release. We totally understand this, but wanted to get as solid of a product out. So, barring any security issues, large bugs found, or a dev just feeling like coding on the older branch, this will be it. We are considering this version feature complete, as well as bug complete

So, when will 0.8 be out? Good question and we have no answer. There's a lot of new code there, but not really any new features there yet either. However, with not having to worry about the 0.7 branch anymore, we can now devote our full efforts on 0.8.

You can get all your download goodness here: click to open link in new window

Thanks again to the great community that helps make e107 what is it.
